JULY 2014 – Senator Morrell Honors Women of Distinction
State Sen. Mike Morrell, R-Redlands, hosted the 10th annual Women of Distinction event at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino. One of Redlands honorees this year is Sara Hector, owner of Visiting Angels and Redlands Fitness Training.
Visiting Angels is a senior home care business, located in downtown Redlands. Hector and her staff of “angels” go to the client’s home to provide care. Redlands Fitness Training is a personal training facility focusing on individual results and intimate setting, with no membership requirement or monthly dues.
Her road to success has not always been an easy one. In 2011 Hector was in a serious car accident and was placed on life support with extensive injuries. Through physical therapy and diligent exercise, she was on the road to recovery. Out of her hard rehabilitation she ended up buying the gym that helped her recover.
Hector credits a loyal staff for getting her and keeping her where she is today, along with the support and devotion of her husband Brandon.
Hector is a member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Bernadine Medical Foundation and Businesswomen’s Association of San Bernardino County, Holy Name of Jesus Church in Redlands and the Redlands Chamber of Commerce.
Hector is quick to praise those that she has encountered along her journey to success.
“Our region is incredibly blessed with remarkable women who continue to amaze me with their acts of service,” Morrell said in a news release. “It’s been a privilege to recognize them for their accomplishments. As we mark the 10th anniversary of this event, I’m grateful for the work of every woman we have honored over the years.”
Each year, the Women of Distinction Ceremony and Dinner showcases the service of women in the region who demonstrate a strong commitment to their communities. Awardees are nominated by members of the public, from business leaders to the volunteers in the community.
