MAY 2019 – Member Profile – Right at Home, Home Care

Right at Home, home care services specific to your loved one’s needs

Right at Home offers caregiving services for almost any family and practically any situation. In-home care lets loved ones enjoy healthy lives in the comfort of a familiar environment. The Right at Home team tailors care to your unique situation through a Custom Care Plan. These individualized care programs include whatever your loved one needs from any of our care categories:

Right at Home provides the right care to California seniors with in-home care services that fall into several categories, including special care situations due to medical conditions.

The in-home caregivers are trained to handle the needs of your loved ones.

Owner Terry Jeffers has a background working in sales and marketing with major corporations. He developed an interest in senior care after watching some of his grandparents go through the dementia process. The experience made him realize that he wanted to work with others to help them get through the same challenges. Another grandmother, who lives on her own, fell and broke her hip. He witnessed how important it was for her to have extra assistance after she was sent home.

Co-owner Lisa Jeffers, worked for the California Department of Social Services for 12 years in the disability evaluation program. She also worked in licensing for group homes and assisted living facilities. While working for the state part of her responsibilities included conducting abuse investigations and testifying at hearings. She worked closely with Child and Adult Protective Services, Alzheimer’s Association, the District Attorney’s office, law enforcement, hospice agencies, the medical community and other agencies to protect and promote the health, welfare, safety and quality of life of each person in care.

To learn more about Right at Home care services contact Terry or Lisa at 909 795-8838 or log onto www.rightathome.net.

APRIL 2019 – President’s Article by Marissa Kramer

Happy April Redlands Chamber Members!

Welcome to spring, and what beautiful weather we’ve been blessed with this month! Well since we had to endure all of last month’s rain wasn’t it gracious of Mother Nature to bless our area with all of the beautiful green lush grasses and wildflowers? If you haven’t had an opportunity to get out and see how beautiful our slice of the Inland Empire is, it is a great time to do so!

This month we got to celebrate the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of Wingstop in the Redlands Packing House District. The owners and operators offered a free wings lunch to its first 100 visitors! See, it pays to keep your eye out for our new Chamber Members and always make sure to welcome them warmly!

The Young Professionals Network hosted their second workshop series in which Dave Maupin, owner of Maupin Financial Advisors, spoke to the group at The Ayres Hotel Redlands. Dave shared his background and story of perseverance of when he started his business here in Redlands. He shared toasting tips and gave advice on how volunteerism is essential to growing your own professional network. He recommended that [if you can] align your volunteerism with something that you are passionate about; if you do this, the rewards back to you will be innumerable.

The Redlands Bicycle Classic rolled in and out like the wind that accompanied it! The wind seemed like it would create quite a challenge, but not for the World-Class athletes that participated in the races! It seemed as if the wind was always at their backs as they raced to the finish lines! What a great event The Redlands Bicycle Classic is, and at 35 years strong it brings so much economic growth and revenue to our local businesses. We look forward to its future success and seeing the legends that come from such a wonderful homegrown event.

Business to Business was hosted by the Ayres Hotel Redlands this month, we had an opportunity to meet one another to share Current Events from our local business and non-profit partners. Like I’ve said many times before, you get out of Business to Business what you put in to it! If you come and soak up the networking opportunities, you can make this event work for you. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reached out to people, or businesses, that I’ve met through our Chamber events that I’ve needed in times of crisis (i.e. ServPro) or when I need advice (i.e. The Law Offices of Mirau, Edwards, Cannon, Lewin, and Tooke). Our Chamber events are some of the days that I look forward to the most because I get to see you, my friends. I thank all of you for coming, participating, and using the Chambers services to grow and develop your personal and professional growth.

Sincerely,

Marissa Kramer

2019 Chamber President

APRIL 2019 – The Search is On

The Search begins

With the recent retirement of long-time Executive Director, Kathie Thurston, the Redlands Chamber Search Committee is in full gear and on the hunt for a replacement.

The committee, chaired by President Marissa Kramer, Ayers Hotel, includes, past presidents, Scott Welsh, Welsh Insurance Services, Todd Underwood, Allstate Insurance, Matt Thalmayer, Arrow Staffing, Dave Maupin, Maupin Financial Services, Darrel Olson, Olson Insurance Solutions, Jan Nowlin, Chamber General Manger and Kathie Thurston.

A job description has been defined by the committee and is ready to go public. The search will include locals who have knowledge of the organization and community as well as professional chamber executives who might be interested in becoming a part of the Redlands business community. Resumes will be excepted through the month of April, with screening and interviews conducted throughout the months of May and June.

“It is the hope of the committee that we find the exact match for the Redlands Chamber and have them on deck by the end of June.” said Chair and President Marissa Kramer, “ We want to insure we hire the most qualified candidate who is prepared to hit the ground running. Should that candidate not present his or herself during that time frame we will continue the search until we find the match we are looking for.”

The committee has posted the job description on the Western Associations Chamber Executives website and will announce in the local press as well.

If you are interested in the position or know someone who might be send resumes to info@redlandschamber.org.

MAR 2019 – President’s Article by Marissa Kramer

Happy March Redlands Chamber Members!

Wow! What a wet and cold month February was! Not that I’m ungrateful for the rainfall or anything, but for goodness sakes, that was a lot of days of rain and even snow in some parts of Redlands! And it doesn’t look like we are quite out of it just yet, so don’t put away your rain boots and umbrellas quite yet.

For some of us rain and adverse weather drives business away while for others’ it brings in business. We all need to keep in mind that business, like weather, ebbs and flows. We all go through different ‘seasons’ of busy times and down times. So what can we do to assist our sister Chamber Members in their down times? One great resource is the Chamber’s Business to Business meeting held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 12pm so you can actually meet and hear about each other’s businesses and non-profits’ upcoming events.

I’d like to thank and recognize our partners Kate and Joy from The Boys and Girls Club of Redlands for hosting our Business to Business this past Tuesday. They were the most gracious of hosts, providing a huge room and lunch. The meeting was packed with almost 50 attendees and many new faces! This truly fulfills my goal of not only meeting and networking with new people and businesses, but learning and growing our Chamber events and meetings with valuable content. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to share in this great meeting. Please keep in mind, that not all of our Business to Business venues can accommodate quite a large group, so RSVP’s are imperative! Please call Jan at the Chamber ahead of time to make your Reservation for next month, at the Ayres Hotel Redlands.

The YPN Group is on a roll with their “Coffee with Fill (In the Blank)” series! In February heard from Quality of Life Director, Chris Boatman, he shared his journey into his position and told us about some of his successes and future goals for the City and the Department.

The YPN will be hosting their evening workshop on March 12th at the Ayres Hotel Redlands. This will be a workshop not to be missed as Dave Maupin will share his wisdom and extensive knowledge on why it’s important to your profession Volunteer within your community, Public Speaking tips, and how to be on a Board. Reservations will need to be made as this event will sell out.

The Search Committee for the Executive Director position will be meeting this month to formally post the Job Description and solicit candidates. We’ve had a few people reach out to the committee members and we are very excited that there is local interest in this position! We do not anticipate hiring a candidate for the position until April, so if you do come across any qualified candidates, please forward their resumes to Jan or myself to present to the committee at the proper time.

Sincerely,

Marissa Kramer

2019 Chamber President
