FEB 2017 – President’s article – Todd Underwood

Hard to believe we’re already one month into 2017. Our Installation Dinner was such an enjoyable evening. What an honor to introduce the Firefighter, Police Officer, Man and Woman of the Year! Congratulations, Ryan Gallagher, David Frisch, Jerry Bean and Marilyn Solter.

A big thank you to the Redlands Chamber, Hotel Council, for their very generous donation of $4600.00 to the Redlands Police Department. The money will be used to purchase additional trackers for the department aiding in the apprehension of suspects and prevention of burglaries.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at our Grand Opening on Monday, February 13th, 5 – 7 PM. Lots of fun and prizes to be had during our celebration.

FEB 2017 – What a month January was!

What a month January was! The BIG move took place and the Redlands Chamber of Commerce was officially moved to 47 N. First Street on January 2nd.  We all know moves can be stressful and sometimes even traumatic, but this one was “smooth as silk”. It began with Jeff Dill, Inland Core Commercial finding us the perfect location, still in downtown Redlands. From there boxes were packed, furniture that was not going to make the move was donated to The Blessing Center and Habitat for Humanity Restore, both organizations sending trucks and personnel to transport the furniture.

Mike and Brina Limon, Storage West provided a storage unit for items that would be used over the course of the year but were not needed on an everyday basis. The staff boxed and readied everything else that was going to go to the new offices.

On moving day, December 29th, Todd Underwood, Allstate Insurance, his son Mike, Scott Welsh, Welsh Insurance Services and Mike Hokana, Office Solutions, loaded the rented truck in record time, arranging and packing in one amazing hour.

Thanks to Del and Pam Armstrong, Stor-N-Lock, the truck was moved to the storage lot for the weekend until the “moving crew” could regroup on Monday morning and move in.

On January 2, 2017, once again Todd Underwood, son Mike, Scott Welsh, Mike Hokana and Mike Reynolds met the staff and truck at 47 N. First Street. In a record 58 minutes the truck was empty. What a crew, what a move! Our hats are off to all who have worked so tirelessly to relocate the Chamber; from the Board of Directors, to the moving crew, to those that will repurpose office furniture, it was a Herculean effort executed flawlessly.

Since the 2nd the settling process has been seamless, member brochures and business cards are back on display, committee meetings have been scheduled and conducted, the plans for the Annual Installation Dinner and Civics Award Ceremony were executed and a Ribbon Cutting/Grand Opening for the Chamber has been scheduled.

What a month January was!

FEB 2017 – Directors meet to determine course of the Chamber

Each year the incoming president of the Redlands Chamber of Commerce calls for a directors’ strategic planning meeting. Directors gather to review the past program of work determine successes, assess new ideas and set a course for the coming year.

Newly installed president Todd Underwood, Allstate Insurance, will gather the Board of Directors in early March to begin the planning process, lay out the budget and direct committees.

Reflecting on past years the elected leadership has created new and exciting programs, taken positions on significant business issues made important decisions about the future of the organization and reached out into the business community to serve as an advocate.

It’s expected that the first annual Redlands Chamber Dog Jog will be presented once again this year, partnering with the Redlands Animal Shelter and REDFOS, the first time event was bigger and better than anticipated. Underwood plans to grow the event into a large annual celebration of our pets.

Increasing the membership is always a priority for the board, the larger the organization the louder the voice.

If you would like to offer and idea, suggestion or recommendation for the board’s consideration send an email to info@redlandschamber.org for inclusion in the agenda for strategic planning.

FEB 2017 – Chamber gavel changes hands at the Annual Installation dinner and civic awards ceremony

The Redlands Chamber said thank you and farewell to the outgoing President of the organization Jill Riley, Citrus Valley Plumbing and welcomed the new president Todd Underwood, Allstate Insurance to the helm.

Riley having served more than a year as president due to an early resignation of her predecessor, acknowledge and thank the board members who support and served in 2016. With mixed feelings of relief and sadness, she handed over the gavel to Underwood who immediately introduced his team including committee chairs, all at the ready to serve the organization for another year

The Year 2016 in Review report noted the enormous accomplishments of the Chamber in the past year including a move to a new home for the Chamber.

“During the years I have been involved in the Chamber, I have witnessed change and diversity as we have adapted to the ever changing economic climate of the community, State and nation.” Said Underwood, “As we move into 2017 I believe the current board carries the knowledge and creativity to continue the Chamber’s mission, embracing the changes and celebrating the opportunities that present themselves along the way.”

FEB 2017 – Member Profile – Brake Masters

Brake Masters, an honest brake since 1983

Originally founded in 1983 as one of the first brake specialty repair shops in the automotive industry. ,Brake Masters also provides complete automotive services and repairs on most vehicles.

Brake Masters has been dedicated to providing customers with an “Honest Brake,” meaning employees are trained to recommend only those services or repairs customers truly need or require, according to manufacturer specifications. This philosophy was, and is, a radical shift from the high pressure, over-selling tactics often used in the automotive repair business.

Strong loyal customer following allowed Brake Masters to expand services and become an industry leader in complete automotive service and repair. Brake Master’s ASE certified technicians and store managers are trained to diagnose and advise customers on services they need to maintain and repair their vehicles, and in particular, to extend the life of their vehicles.

This philosophy has led to Brake Master’s remarkable growth and is evident in everything we do.

Brake Masters now operates over 94 Corporate and Franchised locations throughout Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas.

Team members take P.R.I.D.E. in their work —”Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence,” and They’re confident you’ll notice when you visit one of our locations.
