DEC 2016 – It was a dog day in Redlands November 5th

4-dog-jog-picture

The Milk Bones have been devoured, the bandanas tucked away but the buzz continues about the spectacular first ever Redlands Chamber Dog Jog. More than 250 dogs and their humans, ran, walked, meandered or even rode on the streets of Redlands on November 5th. It was a warm sunny Saturday, and the pooches were on point.  As they gathered at the Redlands Mall, the excitement mounted for the official start… New friends were made and old acquaintances renewed. Tails were wagging, and proud pup parents were showing off. The DJ sounded the start of the event with “Who Let the Dogs Out” and it was clear the Redlands Chamber of Commerce did as the mega pack headed out on their 5-K journey.

Greeted at the finish line by enthusiastic volunteers, dog treats, water and official dog tags were handed out to every team. Some pooches more pooped then others, some owners suffering the same ailment but the fun was shared by all.

The Dog Jog could not have been possible without the generous support of race sponsors, Barich & Associates, Alta Vista Credit Union, All Four Paws Pet Services, SCE, Allstate Insurance-Todd Underwood,  Pacific Specialties Insurance Services, Mountain West Financial, Super 8 Hotel. Storage West, Jam Sportswear and Redlands Sewing Center, what a team.

The volunteers that secured the streets making the adventure safe are to be thanked, without them the course would not have been open and accessible. Special thanks to the Officer Ken Wright and his team that kept the street closure to a minimum. The Dog Jog Committee though wee in size was mighty indeed, Chairman Daney Bachiu, committee members Jill Riley, Todd Underwood, Mike Hokana, Penny Adams, Randy Diaz, Marisa Nodine, Danielle Nodine and Dick Dawson along with staff really out did themselves.

Messages are still coming into the chamber office, through social media and emails sharing their stories, and asking about next year’s date.

We are extremely happy to report that a portion of the proceeds went to REDFOSA, the volunteer organization that assists the Redlands Animal Shelter find “fur-ever” homes for hundreds of dogs, cats and more, each year.

Hats off to everyone who was a part of this spectacular new event in Redlands. Watch for news about next year’s event 2017.

DEC 2016 – Chamber offers discounted movie tickets to Chamber members

2-movie-ticketsAs the cost of just about everything continues to rise, one of the added values of Chamber membership is the ability to escape into the world of movie magic at discounted prices. In partnership with Krikorian Theatres and Harkins Theatres, the chamber offers discounted tickets to members providing substantial savings when it’s time to go to the movies. This time of year it’s a multi-purpose benefit as the movie tickets make great stocking stuffers, gifts for that one person on your list that has everything and tips for your favorite service provider or treats for your empl0yees. Whether the tickets are used for personal enjoyment or as an incentive for customers or employees, they are a terrific reward for a job well done or a gift for customer loyalty.

Tickets are available at the Chamber office for members only during normal office hours, Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM, closed 12 – 1 for lunch and Friday 8 AM to 12:00 PM.  Each ticket is $8.00.  For large orders call in advance to insure there are adequate tickets available.

Discounted movie tickets; another benefit of chamber membership

NOV 2016 – President’s Article by Jill Riley

Redlands Chamber of Commerce Jill Riley President

As my term as president of the chamber is coming to an end, I’ve been reflecting on all that has been accomplished this past year. I have had the pleasure of meeting several new people and have seen businesses that are growing in Redlands.

I strongly believe in the Redlands Chamber mission. It represents how the chamber supports local businesses and the community at large. I have witnessed first-hand the various opportunities that have been provided to chamber members and seen how many take advantage. I hope to see more Chamber members benefiting from the services the Chamber provides in the future.

Although my term is almost up, I will still be on the board and look forward to participating in future chamber events for years to come. I am thankful for having the opportunity to be involved in such a strong business organization. I am also grateful to my family and friends who have supported me throughout my term.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving.

NOV 2016 – Charley spreads the word about the Dog Jog

2-charleyBy, Charley

Finally!!! I get my own By-line in a paper! It’s about time the Chamber allowed me to share a few things, I’ve actually got a lot to say!

My friends and I are so thrilled about the most exciting, the most electrifying, the most sensational event to come to Redlands almost EVER! It’s the Dog Jog, on November 5th, designed specifically for us dogs. I mean really who declared the rule that there are “no dogs allowed” at all these races all over the region.  After all we are the ones that go out with our athlete owners and train in preparation for all those races; l we’re the ones that endure those early morning runs, those late evening trots, even those mid-day scorchers, just so our two legged pals can shave a little off their best time. Then when it’s race time… we get left home.  Well not anymore, this time we can invite our masters to join US at the 5K race on Saturday, November 5th. Yep I said a 5K…and the best part we don’t even have to run.. we can walk, jog, trot, meander, stroll, heck we can even travel in a wagon or a stroller.

You know how at all these other races the humans get really good stuff in their swag bags… at the Dog Jog it’s all for us. We get a brand new bandana, a brand new stuffed toy, hopefully one with a squeaker in it to drive our family crazy, a dog treat at the end of the race AND a dog tag that we can wear on our collars, that proves we finished the race. Our humans get an official T-shirt but we get the really good stuff.

So many businesses in Redlands thought this kind of race was such a good idea that they sponsored it, Alta Vista Credit Union, Barich & Associates, All Four Paws Pet Care, SCE, Super 8 Motel, Allstate Insurance – Todd Underwood, Mountain West Financial, Pacific Specialty Insurance, Storage West, Redlands Sewing Center and Office Solutions. I’m going to insist that my family shop at these places for their products and services, what a bunch of really great guys.

So come on….. join me and hundreds of my closest friends from the dog park, the neighborhood and the vets offices, on Saturday, November 5th, 8:00AM in downtown Redlands, south side of the mall.  Did I tell you we’ll actually be in the streets racing, no cars!

It’s not too late to sign up. Call the folks at the chamber office at 793-2546. I can probably get you a discount if you drop my name. By the way, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Redlands Animal Shelter so they can continue to help all my friends looking for a home.

See you on the 5th.
