NOV 2015 – Member Profile – Keller Williams

#5 Keller WilliamsCreated as a grand experiment, Keller Williams operates on the premise that if the company focuses all its resources on building its agents’ businesses, the agents in turn will build the company beyond all expectations. With that philosophy, they are reshaping the global industry landscape. Today, more than 110,000 associates and nearly 700 market centers across the globe are affiliated with Keller Williams.

Gary Keller notes on the cover of The Millionaire Real Estate Agent, his best-selling guide to success in this business: “It’s not about the money. It’s about being the best you can be!” Having studied the systems used by thousands of the highest-producing agents in the industry, Keller Williams created the model for what it takes to succeed in real estate. They reinforce these winning models through training, coaching, educational events and a best-selling series of career guides.

Their perspective is that real estate is a local business driven by individual associates and their presence within their communities. It’s a perspective that stems from a deep conviction that the agent, not the company, is the brand that matters most. Their primary role is to help agents grow their own businesses – beyond simply selling real estate. That’s why they stand behind their agents, not in front of them. Great riches only matter to the extent that they fund a great life with deeper meaning. Keller Williams is defined by a culture of agents who care deeply about each other and are committed to having a positive impact on their clients and their communities. As the only major real estate franchise company in the North America to experience positive growth in recent years – among the most challenging in the industry.

There’s a reason why Entrepreneur magazine recently ranked Keller Williams as the No. 1 real estate franchise. If you are interested in buying or selling, call Keller Williams Redlands, 793-2100 or visit them at 301 West Redlands Blvd.

OCT 2015 – The Importance of Tourism

I love redlands logo

The importance of tourism

The tourism industry is important to any community’s economic growth.

A vibrant business environment is supported by a vibrant tourism community. In Redlands, you’ll find new and exciting experiences around every corner, from the Kimberly Crest to the A.K. Smiley Public Library, The Redlands Bowl to the renowned Redlands Symphony, Pro Bike Races to spectacular fireworks events. All of these facilities, festivals and more are local favorites, but they thrive on the financial support of visitor spending.

Visitors who attend, museums, and festivals bring added vitality to our landscape. Without their presence (and their spending) in these facilities and events, our community wouldn’t be nearly as rich – visitor spending is helping build a community that we can all enjoy.

That’s right – visitors to Redlands generate significant revenue in local taxes each year. These taxes (paid by food and beverage, hotel, car rental and other purchases) are cycled into our local economy. Tourism spending breathes life into a community as business meetings, groups and associations and families in town for a youth sports tournaments all support our restaurants, hotels, attractions, shopping and facilities. Our quality of life is enriched as their spending supports our facilities – creating a better city for all of us to enjoy.

Concerts, sporting events, festivals and other special events all rely on visitors as well as residents to attend their events. Everyone receives an improved quality of life when visitor attendance helps bring additional revenue into the city.

In the 21st century, eight out of ten jobs will be in the service industry, which is why we should focus efforts on creating a vibrant economic machine that will help support this dynamic industry.

Our location and unique special “entertainment experiences” along with our high quality of life and amenities are reasons that visitors want to come to Redlands and return year after year!

OCT 2015 – President’s Article by Jill Riley

Jill Riley

The board of directors held its annual strategic planning to develop a course of action for upcoming year. Collectively we looked at the programs and services offered at the chamber and how they can benefit our members. Ongoing programs that keep members informed, and will continue as will networking opportunities. New programs and tasks have been established to further benefit the membership and business base in Redlands. The newly formed Hotel Industry Council will focus on tourism increasing overnight stays. Retail and hospitality industries directly benefit to increased hotel stays, making it worthwhile for all.

One of the goals the board has established is to spend time visiting and calling Redlands Chamber members and letting them know about all the programs and services available.

The chamber had its annual Cruisin’ Cuisine on September 19th and it was a great evening for my family and I. As we wandered the streets of downtown stopping at the ten restaurants that participated, we all decided we would look forward to revisiting these restaurants again in the future. You don’t need to leave Redlands when it’s time to dine there are so many great restaurants in town. I would like to thank all the restaurants who participated including Alfaro Catering, Benjarong Thai Cuisine, Dhat Island Caribbean Cuisine, Muffin Top Bakery, Oscars Mexican Restaurant, Royal Falconer Pub, Sizzler Restaurant, The Old Spaghetti Factory, The State, and Wok In Café. I would also like to thank Paul and Joann Barich, of Barich and Associates, for sponsoring the grand prize drawing of an iPad Air. A first time guest Wanda Anderson visiting from Moreno Valley was the grand prize winner. I hope to see you all again next year.
