DEC 2015 – Member Profile – The Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory serves the pasta with smileOld Spaghetti factory

For nearly 50 years the Dussin family has shared their love of spaghetti, tradition and good company with millions of Old Spaghetti Factory guests across America. The first Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant was opened in Portland Oregon on January 10, 1969. The family knew that honesty, dignity, respect, hard work and guest satisfaction were the recipe for dining success.

A meal at The Old Spaghetti Factory is an experience. The team invests meticulous attention to the décor, so guests fell as though they’re stepping into another world. Every location is adorned with antique lighting, intricate stained glass displays and an old-fashioned trolley car that doubles as a dining hall.

Nearly every item on The Old Spaghetti Factory’s menu is made on-site, from scratch using fresh ingredients. Unlike most restaurants, when you order your entrees, they serve you a complete meal, including bread, soup or salad, and dessert. With the famous kid’s menu, special treats and fun activities they encourage families to feel at home in their restaurants.

The Old Spaghetti Factory is still family owned and operated and they welcome your family to join theirs for a memorable dining experience.

A favorite on the menu everywhere is Mizithra.  Mizithra (Mi-zee-thra) is a traditional Greek whey cheese that has been enjoyed in Greece for thousands of years.  Mizithra is manufactured from milk and whey derived from sheep, goats, cows or mixtures of milks. The Old Spaghetti Factory imports over 200,000 lbs of Mizithra cheese a year.  The recipe for the distinctive blend has remained unchanged since our opening in 1969, making spaghetti with Mizithra Cheese and Browned Butter our most popular dish.

Lunch, dinner, kids menus, senior menus, banquet facilities, and a full bar make The Old Spaghetti Factory the perfect family stop.  Located at 635 Industrial Park Ave. Redlands, call The Old Spaghetti Factory for more information, 909.798.7774

Mayor meetingMayor meets with Chamber members over coffee

Mayor Paul Foster joined Chamber Members during the quarterly Coffee & Conversation meeting held quarterly, allowing members to meet informally with civic leaders.

The Mayor reported on the activity that was underway in the city including street repair and repaving to the newest project that will replace and repair city sidewalks. He discussed the rail project, high density housing, commercial development and water rates.

He mapped out the strategy developed by the City to address the arrival of El Nino and answered questions from attendees about plans for the Municipal Airport, grey water use, transient/homeless issues and much more.

This is a second in series the first meeting with Police Chief Mark Garcia that allowed attendees to learn about policing efforts and safety issues faced by both commercial and residential properties.

At the conclusion of the “conversation” with the Mayor is was clear we are a “City that Works” and a “City on the Move”.

NOV 2015 – President’s Article by Jill Riley, Chamber President

Jill Riley

The Chamber board of directors has started calling Chamber members to reach out to provide organization information. We feel it is important to take the time to support Redlands Chamber of Commerce businesses and hear what is on their minds. The chamber provides any number of events, networking opportunities, discussions relevant to industry issues and so much more, chamber members are encouraged to participate and have their voices be heard.

Members of the Redlands Chamber of Commerce Hotel Industry Owners Committee presented a check for $5202 to Police Chief Garcia and Fire Chief Frazier at the October Redlands City Council meeting. The money is to be used to help fund the new police and fire mobile command center. The donating hotels are: Country Inn and Suites, Comfort Suites, Hanson’s Motel, Thrift Lodge, Motel 7, Budget Inn Motel, Redlands Motor Lodge Inc., Super 8 Redlands, Star Light Motel, and Motel 6. The Hotel Industry Owners Committee has been working on increasing tourism through overnight stays in Redlands, which in return helps local businesses and the city as a whole. I would like to thank the committee for their time, effort, and donation to this great cause.

Senator Mike Morell held the annual top chamber business awards luncheon. Redlands Chamber of Commerce awards were given to Documedia Group, Redlands Taxi, and Whitefrog Design LLC. The top chamber award was given Jim Nolin from Documedia Group. Congratulations to all on this great achievement.

It’s not too early to mark your calendars for December 10th from 5-7 PM for the Redlands Chamber of Commerce holiday mixer, held at the chamber. I hope to see many of you there.

NOV 2015 – Rise ‘N Shine Redlands Celebrates 25 Years

Happy AnniversaryRise’ n Shine Redlands celebrates 25 years of delivering community information to members. In 1990 a field trip to Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce provided the seed of program that became Rise’ n Shine Redlands. The model program was fast paced interesting and fun… with that model a committee was formed and the rest as they say is history.

It was agreed that to encourage people to attend, participate and enjoy a program that would be called to order at 7 AM on a Friday morning, it would have to be entertaining, interactive and productive. The design fell into place and an hour program with 12 – 15 speakers scheduled was born. It was determined that the speakers would be identified as resources so a lot of information could be transmitted in a short period of time. For additional details guests could seek out the speaker.

As the program evolved I was clear that it was unlike any other chamber meeting. It was fun, fast, interesting, irreverent and dynamic.

Over the years more than 250 chamber members have guided the program having the flexibility to move, bump and shift their way through the program. Well over 3000 announcements, introductions, demonstrations and invites have been scheduled.

It’s rare in any organization or industry to have a long term successful program that maintains interest and attention and Rise’ n Shine has done just that.

On November 6th 7:00 AM at the Casa Loma Room at the University of Redlands, the Chamber will celebrate the Silver Anniversary of this unpredictable event.

Join the revelers and celebrate a quarter of century of news, fun, networking and irreverence, you never know what might happen at Rise’ n Shine.
