Aug 2012 – President’s Article

Recently, City council member Bob Gardner proposed a 1 cent per ounce tax for sugar drinks sold in Redlands. Your Chamber of Commerce felt that the “Sugar Tax” was not a sweet deal for either our business owners or the customers or clients of Redlands. Fortunately after the Chamber, business owners and food company representatives pleaded with Council, the city council did not further the tax that would place the ordinance on the ballot.
We will always be vigilant for any action that may be proposed, be it at the local, state or federal level that will affect your business. Your chamber will be there to look out for you.
The fall season will be upon us soon, it will be time to shop for Halloween, Thanksgiving and even Holiday gifts so I want every person in Redlands to think Shop Redlands First. Your Shopping dollars will make a difference.
